ASH WEDNESDAY( Dust you are, and to dust you shall return)

"Dust you are, and to dust you shall return". To dust you shall return; tacit condemnation to death, as God warned Adam initially (gen.2:17), fulfilling the promise that Adam would die after eating from the tree'[Lutheran study Bible, esv].

• Death wasn't a part of God's creation
• Death came upon man as a result of His disobedience.
• Yet it's not a total annihilation of man, but a privation caused by the separation of the soul from the body.

DUST YOU ARE, AND TO DUST YOU SHALL RETURN

Disobedience was, and is still in man. Disobedience sometimes comes as a result of doubt. The devil injected doubt into Man's heart when he deceitfully convinced him to eat from the tree of which he was warned not to eat from. " dust you are and to dust you shall return ", it's sure that man must die, it's sure that man will be punished for his sin. " it's appointed unto man once to die, and after death, judgment "(heb 9:27). It is sure that man must be judged, for there is no middle residence for him, he dies, and he's judged. But this was God's punishment to the devil " I'll put enmity between you and the woman, between your offspring and her offspring, He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise is heel" (Gen 3:15). God out of His love, promised to finish up the devil, and that He does through Jesus Christ, and with Him(Christ), death isn't man's end, the body stops wiring for a while, but the soul rejoices forever, and will on the last day, wear a new body that's without blemish. "But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus is the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sin, and not for ours, but also for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:1-2). Christ saves, He bruised the devilishly head, that He may ransom us from the paw of the dragon. He calls us to be with Him, and with Him in us, death has no power over us. For dust we are and to dust we shall return, but our spirit rejoices in God our saviour, for in our baptism, we were cleaned to snow white, and He strengthens and continues to give us forgiveness of sins in His true Body and Blood, and also with His word. So; " whether we live or die, we are the Lord's ".
